Chapter 13, Configuring the NFS automounter
NOTE: We recommend that you use indirect maps whenever possible, because they can be modified more easily and they create fewer entries in the mount table (/etc/mnttab). We also recommend that you create a master map. Doing so simplifies automount administration and enables automount to start automatically when your system goes to multiuser mode (provided there is an entry for the automount daemon in the /etc/nfs script). See ``Starting automount'' for a description of starting automount and of how automount finds its master map.
